BBC signs Web 2.0 agreement with Microsoft28 Sep
The BBC has signed a memorandum of understanding agreement with Microsoft to explore ways of developing its digital services. This includes plans for next-generation web 2.0 and ways to share online content in the future. They are also speaking to other companies, including Real Networks, IBM and the makers of the virtual world Second Life.
Given that my own license fee is used to help fund the BBC I would have to hope that the results of this “exploration” are not restricted by any DRM or Windows Media restrictions. I know the BBC has utlised free and open source software in the past and it would be interesting to know if and how the BBC is exploring that .
Coming as close as it does to the revision3 launch party it may be construed that the “media” is recognising the market of internet distrubuted content.
